Today is UW v. Marquette. I actually sort of forgot about it until I took a look at my magnetic Badger schedule. It is a really good rivalry game. Like Creighton v. Nebraska except that both teams are usually good. Let me just start out by saying fuck Marquette. I have some very personal reasons for disliking Marquette. But here are a few others if you are looking for a reason:
1) Rich kids
2) Fibs going there purely because it costs alot
3) Fake ghetto-ism
4) The ghost of Tom Crean
5) Shady recruiting practices (see Vander Blue)
6) Changing their name from the Warriors
7) I'm pretty sure Dominic James still plays for them (I fully realize he doesn't but after 14 years, it is hard to kick the habit)
Of course, my nieces decided to be inconsiderate and turn 3 today, and also to have their party at the same time as tip off. I've already chronicled my in-laws and their (non) love of sports. It is a good thing my father in-law is rude and will just turn the shit on and ignore the rest of the family with me. I'm going with Bucky by 5. And 14 Bo Ryan faces.

Get Together Recap: (1) TCU v. (4) Wisconsin
AT FORTH WORTH, TX
(1) TCU 64
(4) Wisconsin 3
Um. Any thought that this process is biased can shut up now. John Clay is held to 23 carries for 73 yards. Bucky is held to 94 yards total offense. Anally raped by Horned Frogs. These games have been ass kickings so far.

Daily Wagering 12/11
Fuck over 196.5. Fuck Colorado. Go Penguins.
The "free money" was a bonus I received for making at $100 deposit. I took the $10 bonus and bet on the Penguins straight up. I won about $6.50. I keep the $6.50 but don't get the $10 back. Fair enough.
Tonight - 3 team NHL parlay, 4 team NBA parlay, 3 team NCAA bball parlay. I don't have it in front of me right now so I don't know the specifics. I'm not in a place where it would be wise to check info like that.

Daily Wagering 12/10 and an apology
I apologize to you, Juice, for the Badger loss last night. For the first time in my life I was rooting for them because I had bet on them. I'm not the type of person who says, like most people do, I have the worst luck in the world. But, come on, they beat Duke and lose to UWGB? Duke would kill UWGB.
I re-upped on the gambling site to continue with my wagering. I'll allow a few seconds for a standing applause..........................
I wasn't technically out of money. I have $18 on the line for some large favorites in the world of boxing, but since none of you will have heard of any of the participants, I'll simply leave it at that. I dropped another hundy which also gave me a 10% bonus of $10 of free money. At this point I'm not sure what "free money" is. It's a separate balance, which I bet on the Penguins straight up tonight.
I've decided to not be so reckless anymore. No more 10+ team parlays. Well, not as much of them, I should say.
Tonight I took Florida +4.5 at home against Syracuse. Should be a good game with each team in the top 15. 5 to win 4.55.
Two team NCAA parlay - Colorado -150 and Michigan St -16.5. I moved the Michigan St line down a little. 5 to win 6.05
Two team NBA parlay - Wizards +7.5 against Celtics and over 196.5. I moved the over/under up a little. 5 to win 9.99.
It's a new day. Tune in tomorrow for my simultaneous bitching about all five or so teams I'm betting on today.

The Wisconsin Cavilers and TreBron Hughes
Took in the UWGB over #14 Wisconsin (now unranked) game last night. This is an odd rivalry game to me because I live in Green Bay, occasionally get to go to some of the Pheonix games, and generally want them to do well. But, Badger basketball is appointment viewing. While I foudnd the upset fascinating, if someone put a gun to my head, I would have been rooting for the bad guys (Badgers).
I'm pretty dismayed by Bucky's performance last night. I have never seen them play a game like that. I shared about an hour worth of texts with my brother about this last night, but I want to reiterate those points for the other two people that care.
First, the defense was asleep. While the Pheonix are pretty athletic, there is no excuse for a Big Ten team to surrender 88 points. Especially when you held Duke to 61. And it wasn't like this was crowd driven. While the crowd was the largest in UWGB history (9,700+) and it was probably pretty loud. I can tell you three things for certain: 1) 75% of the crowd was either completely Badger fans or was on the fence; 2) UWGB crowds have not been at all intimidating since the days of Dick Bennett at the old arena; 3) The student section is abysmal. So it was not being on the road that caused UW to not play any defense whatsoever.
It was also not the crowd that caused UW to employ the Cleveland Cavilers offense, or for Bo Ryan to turn into Mike Brown. That is, Trevon Hughes going one on five, and everyone else standing around while he drives to the hoop and either scores or hopes to get fouled or he dribbles around and takes an ill-advised three. Trevon is their best player, but he is much better when he gets others invovled, and certainly not good enough to take every shot. I've never seen less passing in a Wisconsin basketball game. UW had the best three to four players on the court at all times. They also had a size advantage at nearly all positions. And they did nothing about it. The game was just mind boggling.
Was it the snow? Maybe, but its not as if UWGB was sitting on a beach until right before the game. UW was in town well before the storm hit. They just didn't show up and were completely unprepared. As I told my brother, UW has a game like this every year (see: SDSU loss, Long Beach three pointer at the buzzer at home, Missouri St. loss). They are probably closer to the Duke game than the UWGB game. And maybe UWGB is really good. I guess we'll find out when they play Butler twice.

Get Together Recap: (2) Penn St. v. (3) LSU
What? It is fucking snowing out.
At Tuscaloosa, AL
(2) Penn St. 17
(3) LSU 6
I almost fell asleep watching this one in my brain. Penn St.'s Evan Royster had 98 total yards and a TD to win the game's MVP. Penn St. advances to take on top-seeded Alabama in round 2.

Randy Wolf is official
Randy Wolf's signing with the Brewers is finally official. I believe he signed for 3 years, 27 millionish. Here's Randy's career stats, he is 33 years young. The Brewers also just announced the signing of LaTroy Hawkins, which, with DiFelice being out for all of next year, we needed a reliever, hopefully Hawkins still has something. He pitched pretty well for the Astros last year, and in general in the NL the last 5 years or so, but when he's been in the AL it's been a little shittier as of late.
I guess I'm ok with the Wolf signing, I just hope he's not another Suppan, big year, we get tricked into a contract and then he has a 6 ERA for the next 3 years.
There's been plenty of Brewers rumblings at the winter meetings, I guess I'm glad to see something come from it. We've had a Hart for John Maine trade rumor with the Mets, a similiar rumor for Lowe from the Braves. There's been a very speculative Suppan for Juan Pierre trade, but I have no idea why anyone in their right mind would want to acquire Jeff Suppan for anything.
This obviously puts us out of the John Lackey running, but we've also been linked to cheaper pitching options like Doug Davis, Mark Mulder, Kelvim Escobar, and a couple of other aging pitchers.
We let Kendall walk since he wanted 5 million, so we signed Gregg Zaun to a 2 million dollar deal, looks like the money we saved with that move went towards acquiring LaTroy. Brewers have offered Counsell a contract for next year so I'm pretty sure he'll be back too. We snagged Luis Cruz off waivers, young middle infielder and Trent Oeltjen a younger outfielder, both have touched the majors at least a little bit in their short careers. Signed John Halama to a minor league contract, who's 37 and been out of baseball for a couple of years, but apparently looked really good pitching in some Caribbean league. We also signed Cappy to a minor league contract.
So as of right now the rotation looks like this Gallardo, Parra, Wolf, Bush, Suppan. I think... I'd love to add Davis and kick Suppan's ass to the curb.

Get Together Recap: (1) Alabama v. (4) Missouri
I'm going at it a little different this year. From now until the BCS championship I'll be posting a game or two of results.
At Tuscaloosa, AL
(1)Alabama 70
(4)Mizzou 7
Just an absolute abomination of a game. Missouri jumps out to a 7-3 lead. And the Tide ROLLS to 67 unanswered points. Mark Ingram goes for 264 yards rushing, 48 yards receiving, and 4 TDs.

Daily Wagering 12/9
Today is a new day. Taking it one day at a time. It is what it is. Blah blah blah.
I'm fired up. I have some large wagers on the line. And my account balance is now at $0.00. I placed all the remaining money on bets today.
I've been pondering Juice's advice, and of course I had already pondered it before he mentioned it, but I just can't lay off the parlays. They are simply too much fun.
I have a simple college basketball parlay, very similar to the parlay I won yesterday using my (non) foolproof plan. Boston College, St Johns, Indiana St, Villanova, San Diego St and Southern Illinois. All are -700 or more. 8 to win 6.15. Add the Lakers and Spurs to that 5 to win 6.18.
The rest of my bets have relatively high payouts.
4 team NHL parlay. I'm due to win an NHL bet. Capitals, Devils, Blackhawks, Avalanche. All money line. 5 to win 33.04.
4 team NBA parlay, which I have no chance of winning. Bulls/Hawks over 196.5, Pistons +3.5, Warriors -110 and Cavaliers -2.5. 5 to win 60.
4 team college basketball parlay - Badgers -6, Michigan +1, Western Michigan -2.5 and Arizona -250. 5 to win 44.
And with my remaining 5.55 I decided to go out with a bang. A 15 team parlay combining NBA and NCAA. 5.55 to win 90.44.
As soon as I lose all these bets, which will be around 11 o'clock central time, I will begin to mull over another hundred bucks. I will allow my decision to be swayed by our loyal readers.
