Last night, I went to my PS3 and tried to play a game of MLB '09: The Show. It didn't work. Having played vids for about 20 years now, I didn't panic. This shit happens all the time with video game systems: see the classic blinking pink screen on Nintendo. Anyways, I stuck one of my other games in and it worked, so I did the whole reset, check for scratches on the disk, etc. thing and I still couldn't get it to work. I have actually had games for other systems that just "died" (which is scientific as hell) where I just couldn't play them anymore. I actually thought it would be a good opportunity to upgrade to '10 seeing as '09 was broken.
Today at lunch I was surfing around looking at video game review sites (which are the homepages on the six computers in my parent's basement) checking on release dates (tomorrow) for the baseball games. I fully intended to try it one last time tonight, and then buy the new game, after a short funeral for the old one. Then I read this. What. The. Fuck? ALL the fucking PlayStation 3s on earth are fucked? Really? This is either my worst nightmare or a reality check. I'm not sure which. Now I have to check back with Sony before I can even power the fucking thing on?

Saturday Morning Live
I'm coming to you live from an office. An office deep inside a mountain-side bunker, somewhere in Northeast Wisconsin. Which, is fucking bullshit. At least I'm wearing a hat. For some reason, it only seems like I'm half working if I have jeans and a hat on. The goal is to get home by 1 for the UW-Indiana tip. It is a game that Bucky should win, at least on paper.
I want welcome those (maybe I should use the singular, "that guy") people here for the first time from the link on the JS Online "Fan Cave". You have to have been a follower or SportsBubble or some kind of nuclear physicist to actually get to the page to find our link, but it is a good page. Anyways, I hope you enjoy me writing, which I typically do much more when I'm not working on Saturdays. (And enjoy silence from the other four writers.) Oh, and O.J. was found not guilty by a jury of his peers.
I just realized that I'm pretty pumped for Olympic hockey. Olympic hockey is fantastic. I see the U.S. plays Tuesday afternoon, which means I can either try to DVR it, or I can watch it online and not work. Hmmmmm. (Can this be gambled on SportsBottle?)
I've seen the video of the luge guy over at Deadspin. It was gross. I probably shouldn't have clicked play. I'm not all worked up over the fact that they posted the video like some are, but I don't really want it up here due to the morbidity. If you don't want to watch it, don't. And shut up about the fact that the video is available to watch if you are so inclined. I hate people like that. (Can another luge death be gambled on SportsBottle?)
I READ A BOOK
After two months of blood, sweat and tears (maybe some other bodily fluids) I finally finished "The Book of Basketball" by Bill Simmons. If you like history/basketball/or the Sports Guy, I recommend it. Oh, and it helps if you can read and hold heavy objects simultaneously (700 pages!!!). If you can't do one of those things, the book probably isn't for you.
Next up on my reading list is Chuck Klosterman "Eating the Dinosaur", which is approximately 1,110 pages shorter.
IN VIDS NEWS
I think I've mastered College Hoops 2k8 to the point that it is getting boring. I'm on a 71 game winning streak with Creighton. I'm gunning for the record of 88 by UCLA. Probably time to get a new game. And yes, I play video games, and my wife lets me.

All-Decade List: Technology
I was throwing around the idea of doing a whole bunch of all-decade lists, because I am just as qualified as anyone else (not really) to make these kinds of lists. I still might do some, but I realized how much thought could actually go into some of these. For instance, "Songs of the Decade". There are probably like 12 million songs put out in the decade. Not that you need to listen to all of them, but you probably have to hear most of them. So when I do that list when I'm sitting around bored the day after Christmas, take it with a whole bunch of grains of salt. I decided I was going to do one based on "Technology created in the last decade that changed my life the most." This has to be something that didn't exist before 2000. I'm going to throw some on here that probably only changed my life from an advertising/envy standpoint, and that for whatever reason I never actually owned. Feel free to suggest others in the comments, as I will surely miss one or ten.
1) The iPod
I got the whole idea for the list as I was listening to my "2005" playlist on my iPod on the way to "work" and I realized that the fucker is turning 5 this week. Five years for any piece of technology, especially in today's day and age, is like turning 300 in human years. I've dropped this thing, subjected it to temperatures ranging from -40 to 120. And it still works. The battery only lasts about 40 minutes without being charged and I can no longer use it as a running aid because it doesn't like being shaken. But it still plays music in my car. I've got well over 3,000 songs on it, which prior to 2000 would have involved numerous books of CDs that took up alot of space, and got scratched. I would say that not only in the vehicle, but exercising, the iPod was the technological advance of the decade. At least personally.
2) PlayStation 3
And I haven't even hooked it up to the Internet yet (I actually have ordered the equipment to do it). I was an early adopter, getting mine in 2007. While it is hard to waste as much time as I did with PSone or PS2, based on age and responsibility, it has still been life altering.
3) DVR
This probably should be higher, but I'm too lazy to cut and paste. You'll never miss a TV show again. You can record sporting events and avoid society until you have time to watch. Unbelievable advance.
4) Blu-Ray
I have one by way of my PS3. I have watched very few honestly. I'm a little behind on this one, and I don't have much excuse other than I don't watch that many movies, and don't really rent them. I was one of the first persons I knew to have a DVD player (1998) and have a Blu-Ray player (2007) but now I'm severely behind in that category. That being said, they are spectacular and I should run out and melt all my DVDs.
5) Wii
I don't own one (although my wife seems to want one for some reason), and I don't think I would sit and play one by myself. But it is one of the coolest things to have at your house when you have people over. It is really, really fun. Just make sure you use the wrist strap, especially when you are hammered.
6) Big Ten Network
I have it, and the fact that I can watch 99% of Badger games makes it a) awesome and b) has changed my life
7) NFL Network
Great, great channel. And since I have a Dish, I have it. Football 24/7.
STUFF I DON'T ACTUALLY HAVE, BUT EITHER HAVE USED, OR KNOW SOMEONE WHO HAS, AND PERHAPS I WOULD LIKE IT, BUT IT HAS CHANGED THE WORLD FOR WHATEVER REASON
8) Netflix
I have resolved to get this in 2010. There are too many movies/TV series I have missed out on, that need to be rented. And I will get Blu Ray for sure.
9) iPhone
Seriously fucking cool. I still want one. Rumor has it that there is AT&T 3G in Green Bay now. I'm hoping within the next 18 months Apple allows Verizon to have the iPhone. I would get one in a second. That being said, fuck everyone that sits on it non-stop when we are sitting at a bar. There are commercials every 12 seconds for it.
10) Xbox 360
In my mind it is PS3 lite. But for those who like Xbox, I guess it is pretty good.

Memories

11. Bob Nelson
Game: "Tecmo Super Bowl"
In real life: Defensive tackle. Played three NFL seasons. Recorded three sacks. Would have to quadruple that number to qualify as an afterthought. Would have to quintuple that number to be confused with former pro linebacker Bob Lee Nelson, who started in two Super Bowls for the Oakland and Los Angeles Raiders.
In the game: Bane of centers, eater of quarterbacks, destroyer of worlds. A blurry smudge of pixels that keeps offensive coordinators up at night. Better than Richard Dent. For reasons unknown, Nelson's speed rating is better suited to a defensive back; under user control, said speed can be used to slip past the opposing center and guard, untouched, on almost every snap. (As soon as the ball is hiked, press down and the dive button). Twenty-sack games and 200-sack seasons are not out of the realm of possibility.
Overrated archetype: Mr. Inexplicable. Digital athletes who are simply and mysteriously effective, sans rhyme or reason. Nelson is lucky to be in game. Yet in the game, he's a one-man natural disaster. Why ask why? Just try to duck.
Fellow travelers: Petr Klima in "NHLPA 93;" Mike Ridley in "NHL 95;" Brian Bosworth in "All-Pro Football 2K8," a Mike Singletary-like tackling machine. "I hate to pile on the Boz, but he's the very definition of overrated," Ekberg says. "He has no place in anything with the phrase 'All-Pro' in its title."
Expert opinion: Had Nelson been this ferocious in real life, Michael Lewis would be writing a book about the evolution of the center position. "The nose tackle dive play was called the 'Bob Nelson' in my area," says Glen Haag, co-author of the SportsGamerBlog.com. "You would set ground rules before the game began that no one could use the dive play with Nelson. I have no idea why the people at Tecmo loved that man like they did, but he was almost unstoppable."

Anyone remember the party we had at Hutch Apartments when we placed bets on CPU v. CPU Tecmo Super Bowl games? Anyone remember Packers v. Broncos? Anyone remember Bob Fucking Nelson having like 15 sacks??? I'm not sure there has ever been a more perfect passage from an article (the rest of the article is spot on too), that corresponded to something in real life. In closing, I wish I was 21 again.
What Old Men Do On the Weekend
That is, what I am planning to do this weekend, now that I don't get to pretend to be 21 again for two weeks.
-Hanging blinds.
-Eating dinner at my parent's house.
-Drinking and watching the Packer game in the back yard with my neighbors
-Going for a run.
-Possibly going on a date with my wife.
-Playing video games.
-Watching TV.
-Surfing the Internets for funny Hitler videos
-Cleaning.
-Sleeping.
-Going to bed before 3 a.m.
-Yard work.
I would probably be dead/divorced if I got black out drunk for a fifth straight weekend, so it might not be too bad.

Spare bedroom, anyone?

Due to some complete horseshit, it's possible that within the next 6-12 months I may be out of a job. It's amazing how complete dipshits can rise to levels of power within any given city. If you're a complete dipshit, and you know many other complete dipshits, you can win an election. Anyways, any details will reveal exactly where I live and what I do, so I won't go into it anymore. But for those who know where I work, you can look online at my local newspaper and read about what's going down here.
I bought Madden 10 yesterday. My Madden experience is always a bit different that Juice's. I tend to only play 2-3 games per year. The first game was a little rusty but I pulled through late with a 28-17 victory with my newly created team, who may or may not have Tar Heel colored jerseys.
I don't have the same feeling about buying video games as Juice does. I drive up to the video game place in my black 2007 Ford Mustang GT convertible and stroll into the store, buy my game and leave. If I was the dude inside (who I hope realizes he's the one actually working at a video game store) I would be thinking, "That dude must be able to buy any game he wants whenever he wants to." Or he's thinking, "That fag must've borrowed his dad's car." Either way, at least I'm not working there. Or, as the picture at the top suggests, maybe I'll be working there before too long.
I think I'd be in the running for the biggest NFL fan who cares the least about the NFL preseason. I can't stand it. I can't even root for anyone. It simply doesn't really matter. BUT, I will admit I'm popping a little chub watching the Packers first team offense.
Brewer game on right now. Dave Bush is back. Very good 5 2/3 innings. Brewers up 4-1 with 2 outs and no one on. Now it's 6-4 in the 5th. 6 runs with 2 outs. Shit.
Am I imagining this, or is Jody Gerut starting 2 games in a row? He is so fucking worthless.
I'm gonna be about right on when it came to my preseason Brewers prediction. I figured they'd be under .500 but not by much. I listen to the Brewer post game show and hear the callers who are so pissed they won't make the playoffs. FIRE KEN MACHA they scream!!! I don't think Macha is a very good manager, but the Brewers are not a playoff team. They never would've made it last year without CC. The pitching staff is BRUTAL. I mean just awful, with the exception of Yo, Hoff and Coffey. You can't win with 4 shitty starters. We have speed on this team, why don't we ever run? Is it because if we start to run Prince will think he should run too?
Just renewed my SI subscription. 17 years and running.

Points of Interest (Or Not)
-Nothing big to write about today, so I'm going straight up list style.
-I sort of watched most of the Brewer game yesterday. Color me not that fucking interested. Other than that one inning, it wasn't real exciting.
-I'm far more interested in whether Tyrell Sutton is going to make the Packers, or if Desmond Bishop is going to beat out A.J. Hawk for starting MLB. Is that so wrong?
-I don't have a real good feel for either of the above questions, because I've watched both preseason games through a haze of booze.
-Friday we got invited to sit in the back yard, drink, and watch the Packers v. Cardinals. I've got no desire to ever drink again (hang over day three), but I was going to watch anyway...
-In my fantasy baseball league with the old dudes, I've basically got $75 riding on the matchup this week. 2nd place in regular season gets $75, I'm in second 2 games up, and I'm playing the third place dude.
-Madden '10 update: Packers went 13-3, lost to the Giants at home in the NFC Championship 28-23. I got dominated by their defense, but took the Pack inside the 15 with under a minute left, and proceeded to have TWO dropped TD passes (Ruvell Martin and Jordy Nelson), and two other incompletions. It was a driving snowstorm, and there were piles of snow surrounding the sidelines, which is pretty cool. I pulled a Ted Thompson and drafted a WR in round 1, even though I had one of the best receiving corps in the league. Traded away Poppinga and Harrell for cap space (because I used the space up re-signing Kampman and Jennings. Which is why they have so much space now, because Thompson isn't a fucking idiot.) To start season two, Raji (pro-bowler as a rookie) tore his pectoral and is out for the year. And I open against the Giants.
-Some bitch was riding three inches away from me all the way to work this morning. I wanted to fucking slam on the brakes and kill both of us.
-I now have 3 NFL and 1 college fantasy team. But I only care about the one that has Kevin Walter starting at WR.
-I hope to (Sports Bottle's) god that the NFL forces the Cowboys to spend $2 mil to move that scoreboard. That would be awesome.

Madden '10 Update
Bored as shit at work. So I figured I would needlessly update you all on Madden '10. It is fucking spectacular. I have found virtually nothing wrong with it. I'll give it a 9 out of 10 only because the Halftime show is ridiculously bad, and while the players look identical to real life with helmets on, they have gargantuan melons/haircuts with the helmets off. And the rosters were outdated the day the game came out because Vick doesn't exist. (I'm too cheap/lazy/don't really care about hooking my PS3 up to the Internets). Oh, and every time a Packer jumps in the stands, he is caught by six black guys, which is unrealistic because there are exactly five black people in Green Bay. But those were my biggest beefs so it is pretty goddamn good.
So far, I'm 9-2 with the Pack. Tied for first in the NFC with the Giants and one win away from a NFC North title. Only roster change I made was signing Greg Ellis (who was a free agent). B.J. Raji is an absolute beast. He is Pro Bowl bound with 6 sacks and an INT through 11 games. Al Harris leads the NFL in picks with 6. Cullen Jenkins and Kampman are also very good on defense. Nothing earth shattering on offense. Jennings and Rodgers are really good. Grant is injury prone and average. Did have a 244 yd, 4TD game with Brandon Jackson when Grant was hurt. But he followed that game up with something like 14 carries for 26 yds the next week. Only two losses were at home to the motherfucking Lions (on a last second pylon leap by Megatron), and a missed 45 yd FG loss at Tampa. I destroyed the Queens (who started the year 0-8) 31-3 and 31-0. And fucked up the Bears 20-0.

Happy Maddenoliday!!
After work today, I am returning from a one year College Football hiatus to stop over at the local Best Buy in my suit and tie to pick up Madden '10. I could NOT be more excited. Every five years or so, I do something crazy like last year and buy College Football instead. Inevitably, I regret that decision because Madden is the best game to come out every single year some how. I fully look forward to playing until about midnight tonight while my wife runs around cleaning the house for weekend guests.
I don't know about anyone else, but whenever I buy a video game, I feel embarrassed. A lot like I would feel if I was buying porn or something. I feel the same way buying a fantasy football magazine. I have no clue why. I bet if we took a poll of 28 year old males, well over 50% did at least one of the two. Yet, I always feel like the 19 year old working at Best Buy thinks I'm some kind of asshole that lives in his parent's basement. I don't know why I care. At the end of the day, I could avoid the "embarrassment" by ordering it online or something. But quite frankly, I'm not willing to wait an extra two days to get the game.
Every time I get the game, I sit down and immediately start a franchise with the Packers, and play every game the first season. I'll let you know how it goes. By the way, the "Maddenoliday" ads from a few years back were ingenious.
Anyways, the one downside to this whole experience is that I have a job and I have to wait until 5 to get it (my brother in I actually waited at midnight with the unwashed masses once).
Another big downside is that those assholes at EA decided to be selfish pricks and put the game out the night of the Steelers-Cardinals rematch, when coincidentally, Fitty and Polamalu were on the cover so they could run ads during the whole game. This was the biggest non-coincidence EVER. But what makes it a downside is that for the first time I can ever remember, the game is coming out on a Friday instead of a Tuesday. Leaving me without those three weekdays of non-weekend type interruptions. This all coupled with the fact that EA waited until they found out what Packer preseason ticket I was going to be forced to buy (I am convinced of this) to release the game the day before. Knowing full well that I was going to be forced to get black out drunk the next day, and not have time to play the wonderful game.
Which brings me to this weekend. Richard is going to skip cutting the grass at the house he is obviously renting in Northeast Wisconsin, and heading to GB to watch the future stars of UFL play tomorrow night. Drinks may be had. Only good thing is that it was a Saturday night game, which makes drinking easier to do. Oh, and any time you can go to Lambeau, it is spectacular (even if $60 for a preseason ticket should be illegal). And I get to see Browns third string running back and The White Broncos fifth RB Jerome Harrison! Seriously though, my wife's semi-attractive, perpetually single, kind of bitchy friend is coming along. I remember when I was a kid and we had a dog, and I would push the dog into my brother to piss it off so it would bite my brother. I plan to do the same thing with Richard and wife's friend, except that it is going to involve booze and sex.

He signed with the Eagles. Let's throw a fucking big ass ESPN party. I'm already over it. Glad I'm not watching the Packer game on TV Saturday, because somehow, it would be preempted by coverage of Philly fans throwing bricks at him.
Draft Review
I liked the Bucks pick of Brandon Jennings. He may end up terrible. But so will 90% of the other picks in the draft. I like him better than Jrue Holliday. Holliday didn't do anything for me at UCLA, so I think I'll take the guy who was a little unknown, but who played pro ball for a year already. I did wish they would've taken Patty Mills or Chase Buddinger with the second pick instead of Jodie Meeks. I know Meeks can score, but he didn't strike me as being special. Buddinger didn't either but he is a white American, and could've helped them replace Villanueva. My guess would be now that they will resign CV and let Sessions go. Barring any other trades in the works.
On a side note, I think the T-Wolves drafted another point guard overnight. What an odd draft for them, even though they didn't really draft Lawson. Were they trying to trade either Rubio or Flynn and it didn't work out? Now they have the two best point guards in the draft, and neither can probably play shooting guard. I guess I don't really get it, even though I like both guys.
LOOKING TO THE FUTURE
The draft made me pop in NBA 2k9 last night. I find it much more enjoyable to simulate and tinker around with rosters than actually playing games, which is odd for me because I usually like the opposite. Anyway, I signed LeBron as a free agent in 2016, at age 31 and coming off of FIVE straight MVPs (5yr, 96.8 mil). You may all go back to your lives now.

Semi-Daily Brew Crew Hangover #1
Well, here we are again. An opportunity to bitch and overreact about every loss in a 162 game season, and overreact and heap praise (and probably bitch) about every win. Clearly I have an inherent bias against Rickie Weeks (because he sucks) and Jeff Suppan (because he sucks). So know that going in. I'm not going to have much good to say about them. Weeks would have to win MVP and Suppan the Cy Young before they get any credit. Gone are arch nemises of the past: Geoff Jenkins, Matty Wise, Eric Gagne and Ben "Glass Joe" Sheets. And we can't forget Neddy Yost. So much my material is gone, although some of those on the list have been gone for more than a year, I still have occaisonal nightmares about Jenkins trying to hit a lefty, or Ned trying to execute a double switch.
So yesterday, I, like many others, was at "work" while Jeff Suppan was proving he was worth an opening day start. I assume Soup came out like gangbusters, buckling knees with his 82 mph fastball, and 81 mph change up, lets just check the box sc....What the fuck? 4 IP, 6 fucking ER? Jesus fucking Christ. And this comes against potentially one of the worst offenses in the league in one of baseball's least friendly hitting parks. It was 3 to fucking nothing before I even got a chance to put on gamecast yesterday. Unreal. And it wasn't like our other "options" proved to be any better. McClung walked 4 in an inning. Bush gave up a 2 run dong. Jorge gave up a blast on his first pitch. The hitting seemed to be fine, and we even chased Lincecum after THREE. (I'm pretending I didn't see Billy Hall hit into a double play with a guy on third and one out. Even though I mentally said it would happen because he hits in to a DP in that situation 94% of the time. Someone needs to do some research on that. Bear? You seem plenty motivated.)
I think I'm already starting to dislike Ken Macha. That decision to start Soup yesterday was not popular with anyone who knows anything about baseball. The theory to not start your best pitcher against the other team's best is retarded. In baseball, I think it is pretty fair to say that if the pitching matchup is close to equal, there is about a 50/50 chance to win every game. When one team puts their ace out there, their chances of winning generally go up, especially if they are facing a dogshit opposing pitcher. So yesterday instead of giving ourselves an almost even money chance to beat Lincecum by pitching Yo, we basically said, fuck it, we'll take our 25% chance with Soup, and hope to beat the other team's guy tomorrow with our best. We win that game yesterday with Yo, Parra or Looper. We put up six runs, and should win nearly every game with that output. Soup puts us at a disadvantage, and there is no way he is one of the best 25 players we have. How long of a leash do you think Macha gives him? If he does this for two more starts in a row, does he go to the pen? It's not like McClung showed anything today either, but he gives me a LITTLE confidence.
9:15 p.m. start tonight. I'll get home from work for the first pitch, and be out by the 3rd inning.
RANDOM VIDEO GAME STORY:
Game 1 of NLCS, Brewers at Cubs. Brewers take a 8-1 lead into the bottom of the 8th. Parra comes out of the bullpen (5th starter) and gets lit up for 4 in the 8th. Hoffman comes in and give up a pair of 2 run bombs to Aramis and Soto (walk off) and Brewers lose 9-8. I couldn't sleep that night.

Things and Stuff
More rambling, incoherent thoughts and biased opinions (with bullet points!):
- I am now officially excited again for the NFL. The Pack opens on a Sunday night against the Bears, and I was notified that I am the recipient of the right to purchase Packer tickets at face value because I allegedly am paying for Lambeau Field through my taxes. Finally, a mere four weeks until I pay $5 a beer and watch the draft in an uncomfortable chair, while waiting for Theodore Thompson to turn our first round pick into three sixths and three sevenths.
- I am now going to Brewer games on consecutive weekends in May. May 2 v. Arizona and May 9 v. the Cubs. The fucking spring training schedule has to be like twice as long as the previous longest doesn't it? Maybe it is because I've been working my ass off, and actually watching spring training box scores refresh on my computer screen, but it feels like they've played like 60 fake games. Do baseball players REALLY need to play like 250 games a year? I'm just sayin'. I'm also just sayin' that on MLB '09: The Show, Manny and a healthy Ben Sheets were just sitting on the free agent list at the all star break, and I had money in my budget, so I signed them both, and sent Soup and Weeks down to AAA to make room (and both cleared waivers to get there because neither had minor league options, that is how bad they both suck).
- I really couldn't care less about women playing basketball, and this will be about the last time I post anything about it. But how am I, the sports fan, supposed to take your tournament seriously when you are having number one seeds (in this case Duke), playing fucking ROAD games in the second round against number nine seeds (Michigan St.). My assumption is that the reason is three-fold: 1) they couldn't fill a neutral site game, 2) travel expenses (although Durham to East Lansing is pretty far), 3) size of venue that you may be able to fill. Either way, it is a fucking joke. Imagine if UNC had to go on the road against LSU in the men's tournament? Stupid.
- So Donte Stallworth (allegedly, although not officially charged, so I guess rumoredly) murdered some dude with his car. What I find remarkably odd about the situation is that ESPN has gone out of its way to report that the guy who died might not have been in a cross walk and Stallworth "flashed his lights" to warn him. My thought is "What is your fucking point?" From my standpoint (and depending on the laws of whatever state he was in) if Stallworth was drunk (which has been reported) it doesn't matter if the dude he killed was chasing traffic. If he was drunk, and killed someone, he will probably go to prison. And the slant that I feel is being put on this thing, that somehow being killed was the other guy's fault because "he was flashed with headlights" is retarded. If anything, it makes it worse for Stallworth, because if true, Stallworth clearly saw the guy, and just kept trucking rather than, I dunno, stopping. Just a strange situation. I don't want to come off like I've already convicted the guy, because if he wasn't drunk, then this all probably moot, and maybe he was sober, I dunno. I'm just saying the whole thing is odd.

Trail of Tears
So last night, I decided to hop in the car to try to watch a live, televised sodomization of a bird (and not one with a red color). Only, I couldn't find a bar in Green Bay with the satellite capabilities. Jesus. Fucking. Christ. Its not like the game was being shot on a fucking handheld and being shown on the campus access station. It was on fucking FSN Midwest. ALL cable/satellite systems can get it for about an additional $50 a month. But the three largest sports bars in Green Bay didn't have it. You cheap fucks. I've about had it with this shit. I am going to open a fucking bar, and have ACTUAL fucking satellite systems to watch SPORTING EVENTS. Fucking assholes.
-It turns out it was for the best. But still.
-So I guess the eleven games in a row the Jays won don't mean anything since they had one bad game, because now it is a forgone conclusion that they are out. At the very least it is going to be a long day Sunday. But in my worthless, biased opinion, they should be in.
-My brother is going to be crushed by the news that Matty Wise is retiring.
-Bought MLB '09: The Show yesterday. And I can't hit a curveball, or a changeup, or a fastball for that matter. Lets just say I've got a few kinks to work out. I've never played the game before so everything is taking some getting used to.
The Road to the Show mode is fucking rad. Somehow I made myself a pitcher, and in my mind I'm a huge black dude with blonde hair. I got drafted by the Nationals, and am pitching my way through Spring Training. You pitch games, and have to complete goals like "get a ground ball out" or "don't let this run score". The more points you get, the better your attributes get.
The best part of the game is how real the players are, my wife actually asked me if the Brewers were on last night when she walked into the room. The players mannerisms are so dead on it is scary. Like when Braun goes up to the plate, and does his thing with his batting gloves and takes his deep breath. Or Fatty Tumor, shrugging his shoulders to get the jersey out of his fat rolls.
